The county will look for new zoning classification for the Founders Club and Litchfield Country Club golf courses to restrict their redevelopment.

Those courses and Caledonia are the only ones outside a “planned development” zoning district. Their underlying zoning is the same as the neighborhoods: residential with quarter-acre lots.

Stella Mercado asked for “basically a new zoning district” for those courses while the county works on updating its zoning ordinance.

The update will take at least a year, said Holly Richardson, the planning director.
